Basic Leader training

These instructor-led courses are designed to help Scouters learn how to effectively carry out their Scouting roles. In most cases, completing the course will make a Scouter “trained” for the role(s) covered in the course. E-learning versions of some courses may be found below in the E-learning section.

Cub Scout Leader Training

Within the first two months of joining you should complete Basic Training. Basic Training for all Cub Scout Leaders consists of two courses: Youth Protection Training and Position-Specific Training. Youth Protection Training is required for all volunteers prior to registration and must be taken every two years

BALOO

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Opportunity (BALOO) – This one-and-a-half day course is an intro to leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. It consists of an online pre-requisite component in addition to an overnight hands on practical session. BSA’s Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with  the necessary tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience. 

Scouts BSA Leader Training

IOLS

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Fifth grade Webelos leaders are encourage to take this course.

Scouts BSA Leader Training

IOLS

Venturing Leader Training

Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, leader tenure, youth tenure, safety, and a whole lot more. All adults involved in Venturing are required to take Youth Protection Training; in addition, Crew Advisors, Associate Advisors and Crew Committee members should complete position-specific training.

Sea Scouts Leader Training

Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training focuses on the skills necessary to be an effective advisor in the Ship’s deliverance of service to youth through program and resources, while emphasizing personal skills necessary for the development of youth. In addition, Sea Scout adult leaders must complete Youth Protection Training every two years.

Sea Scouts Leader Training

Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training focuses on the skills necessary to be an effective advisor in the Ship’s deliverance of service to youth through program and resources, while emphasizing personal skills necessary for the development of youth. In addition, Sea Scout adult leaders must complete Youth Protection Training every two years.

Exploring Leader Training

Trained leaders impact the quality of programs, leader tenure, youth tenure, safety, and a whole lot more.  Exploring Leader should complete the Exploring Leader modules.  In addition, Exploring Leaders are required to complete Youth Protection Training every two years.
